About
Here we describe our vision, modus operandi, founding aims and objectives, and our working assumptions
.
We believe this is a primary social duty for the academic community both in the UK and in other European countries at the present time, and we welcome collaboration widely across all genuine academic disciplines, from bona fide qualified scholars, researchers and social and political scientists. This is an ongoing work: if you have suggestions for other categories deserving research, and if you would like to counter to undertake some research into any of the following, please fill in the CBSA membership form. If you know of other colleagues likely to be interested in this work, please contact us or forward to them this information. We have used the term Bremain in the title of our new centre because our position is that all the available academic and political and ethical evidence points overwhelmingly to the fact that Brexit will mean the break up of the UK and will cause huge dislocations in Europe and throughout the UK, and that we therefore have a duty as academics working within a British or European context to marshal all the intellectual arguments and evidence that shows the folly of Brexit and the wisdom of Bremain. Of course, as an academic centre dedicated to the discovery of objective truth, if evidence emerges during our work that Brexit really is a superb idea and much more intelligent than Bremain, we will of course publicise our discovery. To be involved with the CBSA does not mean one has to be a convinced bremainer per se. What it does mean is that one can neutrally weigh up arguments, examine evidence and conduct and evaluate academic research at a high level of cognitive ability. The communications of the CBSA will also always be conducted courteously, with diplomatic tact, and with careful attention to verification, fact and evidence. We are not a propaganda unit but an academic research centre. Our working hypothesis is that Bremain is a far more intelligent policy option for the UK to pursue, and also, that something very strange has happened to UK governance discourse to ever make Brexit an attractive policy of choice to any responsible and bona fide UK government.
